DOWN-HOLE SEISMIC TESTING
With this method we obtain dynamic elastic modules of terrain. For this testing we need to perform a perforation in which we introduce a triaxial geophone. In a spot near the borehole opening we generate P and S waves that are registered by the geophone at a predetermined depth. This test is repeated at several regular intervals of depth and this way we obtain the variation of the velocity of propagation of P and S waves and in an indirect way, the elastic modules of the different layers that make the subsurface.
Applications
-Based on propagation velocity of P and S waves and the density of materials, this tests allows us to estimate the dynamic modules of terrain deformation such as Poisson's modulus, Shear modulus, Young modulus, Dynamic Volumetric modulus and others.
-Classification of soils based on the propagation velocity of shear waves.
-Reconnaissance of contact zones between different known lithological units up to investigation depth.
-Evaluation of geotechnical characteristics of each geological unit and identification of possible fault zones, fractures/alterations of rocks, and others.
-By obtaining the different dynamic modules its possible to calculate the seismic behavior in diverse structures and civil works.
In every project we make an utmost effort to fulfill the proposed objectives and reach a high quality professional work.
